Bidding starts over on eBay for DUI recliner

DULUTH, Minn. (KARE) -- The infamous recliner used by a man who pleaded guilty to drunk driving was momentarily taken off the eBay auction block Monday.
According to the Duluth News Tribune, Proctor Police Chief Walter Wobig was notified Monday that the chair was not a La-Z-Boy and could not be auctioned as one.
It was taken off the website, but another auction was back up by Monday evening. The new auction ends November 5.
Bids for the motorized chair reached $43,300 before the auction was taken off eBay.
The winning bidder has to either pick up the seized motorized La-Z-Boy from the Procter Police Department or arrange for its shipping.
The chair is powered by a lawnmower engine. It comes equipped with a stereo, cup holders and lights.
Proceeds from the auction will go to the police, state and the prosecuting attorney.
Wobig cautions that the chair isn't "street legal," so any buyer should stick to the living room -- or at most a parade.
The former owner, Dennis LeRoy Anderson, pleaded guilty this month to operating the chair while intoxicated. His family is also auctioning on eBay an autographed photo of him riding the La-Z-Boy to help with his fees.
Anderson isn't happy that his La-Z-Boy is up on the auction block, however, he says he plans to build an even bigger and better one.
